Pregnant women should get the seasonal flu shot “at their earliest possible convenience.”

That’s what the reporter on the local NPR station said.

Whether you just took a home pregnancy test or you’re so far along in your third trimester you can’t see your shoes – doesn’t matter. Drop everything and get yourself to a doctor, a Target, a Walmart, (is Dunkin’ Donuts giving flu shots yet?), and roll up your sleeve.

Here’s what all the urgency was about…

Checking up on flu vaccine adverse effects, the reporter talked with an “expert” who said only three miscarriages occurred in a group of 26,000 women who got a flu shot. That’s not considered higher than normal.

And that’s ALL the reporter needed to hear. Based on that one thin statement from an expert, she sounds the siren to her pregnant listeners to grab their car keys, get out there on the double, and get a flu shot.

Careful you don’t trip over those feet you can’t see.

To Your Good Health,

Jenny Thompson
