It’s like flipping a switch in your body and turning on your natural cancer prevention system.

According to Michael Roizen, M.D., of the Cleveland Clinic, that’s what happens when you eat about one cup of broccoli, four times each week.

In a recent interview with Ivanhoe Newswire, Dr. Roizen discussed the concept of “do over.” For instance, if you quit smoking before age 35, Dr. Roizen says your lungs will likely return to good health within five years. And even if you’re 60 and stop smoking, at least some of your lung health will return.

As for the cancer prevention, he notes that components in broccoli stimulate a gene that creates a specific protein that’s required to control prostate, colon, and breast cancer cells.

And for an easy boost of omega-3 fatty acids, just a dozen walnut halves each week actually doubles omega-3 intake for most people. Dr. Roizen estimates that this modest dietary change might cut stroke and heart attack risk by more than 60 percent.
