Your blood brain barrier is a marvel of nature.

When the BBB is intact, the neural tissue of the brain is protected from potentially damaging substances in the blood, such as bacteria, and certain chemicals and hormones. At the same time, essential substances such as oxygen are able to cross the barrier unimpeded.

BBB leakage can be prompted by head trauma, infections, high blood pressure, radiation exposure, and diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

At a recent Experimental Biology meeting in New Orleans, researchers showed that regular exercise appears to keep the BBB healthy by reducing oxidative stress.

You didn’t really need another reason to exercise, but there you have it.

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
