Keep that metabolism moving.

That’s the message behind results of the latest hangover research.

If you tied one on the night before, some amino acid therapy sets the metabolism in motion. And according to researchers at the UK’s Newcastle University, a bacon sandwich will do the job nicely.

Combine bread’s carbohydrates with bacon’s protein and you’ll power up amino acids your body craves. In addition, bacon contains high levels of amines – unique compounds that rejuvenate stressed out neurotransmitters. The result: Clouds part and you rejoin the land of the living.

But it’s not surprising to find that jump-starting metabolism is the key.

In the e-Alert “Cactus Juice” (12/30/04), I told you about this important rule of thumb: Metabolism slows during sleep, prolonging the time your body requires to accommodate the alcohol. So if possible, wait until you’re at least somewhat sober before hitting the sack.

In addition, attempts to avoid a headache by taking acetaminophen and aspirin before bed can backfire, because these analgesics actually increase the time alcohol is in your system.

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
