The one type of paper my dog won't eat
The one type of paper my dog won’t eat
We all have our vices. I admit, I have a few.
While I won’t touch a bottle of diet soda or ever reach for a little blue (or yellow or pink) packet, I still chew sugar-free gum – with aspartame. Or at least I did.
As I’ve mentioned in previous e-Alerts, my Brittany Spaniel, Shula, has a peculiar obsession for paper. She eats it.
And she doesn’t just chew it, she actually eats it. Cardboard boxes, calendars, even books – if it’s paper and she can get to it, it’s gone.
So the other day, I unwrapped a piece of Orbit Sweet Mint and decided to give Shula a little treat. Instead of throwing the wrapper in the trash, I threw it on the floor. She sniffed it for a second and then backed off. When I went back an hour later, it was still there.
Keep in mind, this is a dog who will eat any type of paper and, I’m sorry to say, even her own poop, but she wouldn’t eat a piece of perfectly good paper coated with aspartame powder.
I guess she’s smarter than I thought
