Orange juice That Contains Glucosamine
Throwing Gas on a Fire?
Would you use gasoline to put out a fire? No? Okay – how about if some water was added to the gasoline? There’s an idea!
The other night I caught a TV advertisement for a new brand of Minute Maid orange juice that contains glucosamine – a supplement (well known to most HSI members) that reduces inflammation associated with arthritis and increases cartilage production.
Just one little problem: For many arthritis patients, orange juice actually aggravates their condition. Orange juice and other citrus juices are acidic and tend to lower blood pH, which promotes the formation of crystals in joints. On the other hand, the juice of carrots, cherries, and wheat grass has an alkalizing effect that raises blood pH.
Back to the drawing board, Minute Maid. Maybe carrot juice with added glucosamine?
