Do vitamin supplements interfere with conventional cancer therapies?
Do vitamin supplements interfere with conventional cancer therapies?
A conversation in the HSI Healthier Talk community goes right to the heart of the question.
Lylee: “What are the latest statistics on breast cancer survival after chemo and radiation? My sister has just undergone a year of such treatments; she will continue taking medications for the next few years. All her doctors continue to tell her not to take supplements or herbs because they may interfere with her treatment. Sad, isn’t it?”
D Bergy: “What gets my goat is when that decision is taken away or at least coerced by someone who ‘knows better’.”
ralph: “I have always wondered how those brilliant oncologists just ‘know’ for sure that supplements and herbs will interfere with their poisoning. They pretty much know nothing about supps and herbs, so how can they know they will interfere. Maybe BigPharma has informed them?”
JonB: “Ralph, I think its just part of the conditioning, no not conditioning, training. The pharma pay for the training, they pay for the studies, they even pay for the professorships. Unfortunately, most oncologists don’t do any independent study, so hence when they are told supps are bad, they just parrot it.”
D Bergy: “What really shows the depth of thinking done by the status quo doctor is when they say supplements will do nothing but give you expensive urine. Then at the same time they say the supplements will interfere with some other treatment. Well, either they do nothing and can therefore not interfere with anything or they do something therefore they can interfere. Can’t have it both ways.”
JonB: “I think you have hit the nail on the head. When either of those statements are made we need to question the person exactly as you said. Great stuff.”
JennieFNP: “In so many ways I think it’s all about money, as well as just looking at the statistics rather than each individual person. Sure, the research may show that some of these chemo agents kill the cancer, but do they simultaneously and holistically study the overall effect on the person? Nope. Instead, they give the chemo, which may or may not kill the cancer cells, and in addition they give a cocktail of other drugs to deal with all the symptoms assoc. with the side effects of chemo. What a terrible way to practice!”
