The search continues

What does a girl have to do to get a glass of wine around here?

Last week I admitted that I hadn’t been able to find a wine distributor that carried Paradoxe Blanc, the white wine especially developed to contain as much of the antioxidant polyphenol as red wines (see “Bob’s Your Uncle” 12/31/02).

The following day I received an e-mail from an HSI member named Rick who did a little digging on the Internet and found a reference to the winery that produces Paradoxe Blanc – Domaine Virginie-Castel, located near Beziers, France. Success!

Wellnot quite.

The web site for Domaine Virginie-Castel, domaine-virginie.com, is a tough nut to crack. In fact, I didn’t crack it. Try as I might, I could not find a reference on their site to PB, and even if I had, there appeared to be no way to place an order for any of their wines directly through the site. So I sent them a nice e-mail, asking how I might order PB. Fifteen minutes later the e-mail came back with a message that it was undeliverable at the address given on the site.

You would think it would be easier than this, wouldn’t you?

So once again I’ll ask if there’s anyone out there that knows some savvy insider technique on how to find and purchase a particularly healthy specialty wine that’s probably unavailable outside of France. Heck, for all I know, it may be unavailable outside of Beziers!

I’m getting thirsty over here.
