Everyone loves getting mail
Okay, maybe we don’t have any real high ground to stand on here. Odds are that HSI or others at our parent company, Agora, have sent you one or two pieces of mail in the past. It may have been an offer to subscribe to a newsletter or a renewal of your HSI membership. But either way, we’ve been in your mailbox. And some of you may even consider it, dare I say it, “junk mail.”
But here’s a question for you: Is it junk mail if it makes you feel oh-so-good?
That’s a question that more than 100 people may have been asking themselves when they received actual samples of Prozac in the mail. That’s right. The USPS delivered free samples of Prozac to a number of patients of a medical group in Fort Lauderdale, FL. And while you may or may not appreciate such a mailing, some of these patients were concerned that their privacy was violated. (Not surprisingly, a suit has been filed in Florida state court.)
Meanwhile, Eli Lilly & Co. (the makers of the popular and potent antidepressant) announced that they had disciplined three sales managers and five sales representatives because of the inappropriate mailings.
It gives whole new meaning to the phrase “going postal.”
