Pain relief for arthritis sufferers
My friend Carol, who suffers from arthritis, sent me this email about a month ago.
Dear Jenny:
I ran across something in my Herbal Remedies book that I had completely forgotten about that relates to the gin-soaked golden raisins remedy. It recommends juniper oil rubs on affected joints to alleviate the pain. So that would seem to explain the “gin” connection since gin is made from juniper berries. Since rereading that, I’ve been eating a few juniper berries with the raisins each morning for about six weeks now. And it seems like – SEEMS like – my pain has subsided even more. Of course, if you’ve ever cooked with or eaten juniper berries, you know they have a unique flavor, to say the least. Seems more like medicine now! – Carol
I recently heard from Carol again, and she shared the good news that she is now completely pain-free. She added that she felt a definite diminishing of pain after she started eating the juniper berries. The herbal remedy book she referred to (and highly recommends) is “The Doctors Book of Herbal Home Remedies” by our friends and colleagues at Prevention Health Books. It’s been a staple in our reference library for years. Something tells me we’ll all be taking a closer look at it in the coming days.
Speaking of coming days, I’d like to just take a second to wish all our members in the U.S. a safe and happy Fourth of July. This year I know many of us have a new appreciation of just what freedom means.
