Eat 2 cups of this for year-long skin PROTECTION
Friend, even though the leaves are starting to change and chill autumn mornings are back…
That doesn’t mean you should STOP protecting your skin from harmful UV rays!
Because the fact of the matter is, skin cancer and damaging UV rays don’t only happen on those sunny beach days. Meaning, you need to actively defend your skin YEAR-ROUND!
But before you whip out sunscreen or cover your body from head-to-toe, I’ve got a natural, much simpler solution.
(Hint: this one’s delicious!)
A study published in the Journal of the American Academy Dermatology found that eating GRAPES can shield your skin from ultraviolet (UV) light damage.
You see, no matter what time of year it is, prolonged exposure to UV light increases your risk of developing skin cancer.
But the study found that antioxidants called polyphenols—which are abundant in grapes—act as an ‘edible sunscreen’ by providing an added layer of UV light protection for the skin.
After eating two cups of grapes every day for two weeks, the study participant’s Minimal Erythema Dose (MED) improved.
MED is the slight amount of radiation from UV light required to induce reddening of the skin in a person up to 24 hours from exposure.
So, simply eating grapes consistently, helped folks become MORE resistant to UV light!
Now, grapes are not a hall pass to lay out for hours in the sun without protection… they can act as a natural barrier for damaging UV light.
If you are going to be out in the sun for a prolonged period (even in the fall), protect exposed skin as best you can.
Just remember, when it comes to sunscreen, there are tons of options out there… and they all aren’t created equal.
Opt for mineral sunscreen. Unlike conventional sunscreens, which are loaded with chemicals, mineral sunscreen is natural, has fewer ingredients and sits on the skin while preventing UV rays from penetrating the skin.
Bare Republic makes a mineral sunscreen for the face and body and runs close to $15 per bottle.
To year-round skin protection,
