If you’ve been experiencing “mystery symptoms”… and you’re a little on the older side…
I’m here today to share with you something that might be a hidden cause.
I’m talking about the inability to maintain a healthy weight… sagging energy… toilet troubles… and even infections.
Fortunately, you can work with your doc to EXPOSE a common culprit of ALL of these – one he might not be looking for on his own!
Once you find it, there’s a way to RESET your health… and it’s been used for over 100 years!
A tale of 3 enzymes
You know how certain cells in your pancreas work to secrete insulin to help manage your blood sugar levels…
But there’s yet ANOTHER… and equally CRUCIAL… function of the pancreas.
The “juice” that it produces… and releases into your digestive tract… are CRITICAL for proper digestion.
Pancreatic juice contains 3 ESSENTIAL enzymes, called…
- amylase
- lipase
- protease
As we age, our bodies produce less of these… and certain environmental factors (like fluoridated drinking water) can SUPPRESS their activities.
Here’s what they can do for you… and what happens when they’re not up to snuff.
First of all, amylase actually shows up in the digestive process first in your mouth – as a component of saliva!
That’s where it begins to break down starches into smaller pieces…
But it finishes the job in the pancreas.
Pancreatic amylase helps metabolize leftover carbs so your pancreas can produce glucose for your body to use as energy.
In fact, lower pancreatic amylase levels have been associated with a metabolic malfunction that leaves too much sugar circulating through your bloodstream.
And you know what that means – type 2 diabetes.
In addition to blood sugar imbalances, an amylase deficiency has also been linked to gas… poop problems… low energy… and even mood swings!
Lipase, on the other hand, helps support healthy fat metabolism.
It’s released through a pancreatic duct into the upper part of the small intestine… where it breaks down larger fat molecules into tiny fatty acids that get reabsorbed into your body.
That’s one way it helps keep your triglyceride levels in check.
But lipase can’t work alone – it needs to join forces with a co-enzyme called colipase and substances produced by your liver and stored in your gallbladder, called bile salts.
Without a proper collaboration between these three, you could experience loose, oily stools or diarrhea… painful bloating… and passing foul-smelling gas.
The repercussions you CAN’T see could include trouble absorbing fat-soluble nutrients… and insufficient production of hormones (which are made from fatty acids).
Now that you’ve got sugars and fats taken care of, that leaves one more food molecule that your body needs help from pancreatic enzymes to digest – proteins.
And that’s where the pancreatic enzymes known as proteases step in to break down larger pieces into their building blocks, known as amino acids.
You need amino acids to build new tissue and repair damage in muscle and connective tissues.
Some proteases you may have heard of include trypsin and chymotrypsin – and like the rest of the pancreatic enzymes, they need to work as a team.
Other proteases break down the proteins associated with pathogens. And if they’re not working properly… or you don’t have enough of them… it could leave you vulnerable to infection.
And the levels of these enzymes in particular need to stay BALANCED… because you can get too much of a good thing here.
If you’re deficient in ALL of these pancreatic enzymes… a condition known as exocrine pancreatic insufficiency… it can cause serious health problems.
And malabsorption of nutrients can cause your weight to drop dangerously low.
But it’s possible that your body could use a little nudge to get these enzymes to reach their OPTIMAL levels.
Your doc can test your levels with some simple lab work.
Fortunately, you can get all 3 of the essential pancreatic enzymes in one formula… known as pancreatic enzyme replacement products (PERPs)… often labeled pancreatin.
These 3 are often part of formulas that include a broader spectrum of digestive enzymes for healthy digestion support.
You should know that OTC and prescription pancreatic enzyme supplements are often derived from pigs… though there are vegetarian- and vegan-friendly options.
The bee-based product known as “royal jelly” is also a good source of amylase… as is the vegan option of sprouted seeds, nuts, and beans (which also contain lipase).
And don’t forget bile salts, which are also widely available in supplement form.
